Dronar—Geoforensic Search Sonar from a Drone

چکیده
Lightweight sonar devices may be tethered to an unmanned aerial vehicle or drone and quickly deployed over water for real-time imaging in 2D the on site creation of geolocated, interactive bathymetric maps without need a boat. We show how such data is useful preliminary stages searches, by providing geophysicists, hydrologists divers with spatial depth information, distribution dive equipment hazards as entanglement objects (weed, discarded items) sediment types. One bathymetry case study location described detail, further two summarized demonstrate reconnaissance surveys. Limitations drone-based surveys are outlined, including dense weed cover; limits flight times adverse weather conditions.

Robot Sonar Mapping by Bayesian Search
This paper describes a new method by which a mobile robot can construct a map of its environment from sonar sensory data. A model of sensor behaviour is used to construct a probability function on the space of all maps, which is then searched for the map of highest probability. Because of the very large dimension of this space, specialised search techniques are required. The algorithm was teste...
متن کاملTraining Radial Basis Function Neural Network using Stochastic Fractal Search Algorithm to Classify Sonar Dataset
Radial Basis Function Neural Networks (RBF NNs) are one of the most applicable NNs in the classification of real targets. Despite the use of recursive methods and gradient descent for training RBF NNs, classification improper accuracy, failing to local minimum and low-convergence speed are defects of this type of network. In order to overcome these defects, heuristic and meta-heuristic algorith...
متن کاملAccuracy Analysis of a Dam Model from Drone Surveys
This paper investigates the accuracy of models obtained by drone surveys. To this end, this work analyzes how the placement of ground control points (GCPs) used to georeference the dense point cloud of a dam affects the resulting three-dimensional (3D) model. Images of a double arch masonry dam upstream face are acquired from drone survey and used to build the 3D model of the dam for vulnerabil...
متن کاملEmbodied Flight with a Drone
Most human-robot interfaces, such as joysticks and keyboards, require training and constant cognitive effort and provide a limited degree of awareness of the robots state and its environment. Embodied interactions, instead of interfaces, could bridge the gap between humans and robots, allowing humans to naturally perceive and act through a distal robotic body. Establishing an embodied interacti...
متن کاملAutonomous Drone
For our senior project we modified a quadcopter so that it can fly autonomously and land whenever a camera detects a red target. The quadcopter uses four infrared sensors to avoid obstacles and an off-board camera to detect targets. Whenever the camera sees a red target, it tells the quadcopter to land. Our project was mostly successful; we were not able to attach the camera to the quadcopter d...
